DIY Electronic Hive Scale Prototype

I've been wanting a hive scale for the last couple of years. I've looked at what various suppliers had to offer, and they seemed to be in a $200-$300 (per hive) price range.

I've developed my own DIY electronic hive scale for around $30 and here is a sneak peak video of the setup on my workbench. More details to follow once we get it into the field this season.

You can follow the live (real-time) weights for as long as the experiment is running.

Good day! I have this year just decided to get into beekeeping up here in the Puget sound <western Washington>  And one of my club members is needing a way to weigh the hives and being that I am  also a licensed extra ham radio  operator,  I knew what the raspberry pi  could be capable of and how for  being so inexpensive provide a way to monitor the weight of the hive and  maybe even monitor the clusters temperatures.  This project id like to see how  this is done < havent yet played with raspberry pi  yet>

The scale is now monitoring a hive with live real data!
