Moving Artificial Swarm into Full Hive
Today we went over to Tom's place and checked on the hives. We brought with us equipment to move the artificial split into a full size hive.
When we got there the temperature was in the 90*s and hot. The bees must have thought so too because they were all bearding on the landing boards to cool off.
They were piled up on the landing boards, the hive stand, and below the hive clinging to the under side of the screened bottom board too.
We got the new equipment setup, and moved the 5 frames from the artificial split out of the temporary nuc box they were in and into their own full size equipment.
We gave the a sugar syrup feeder to encourage them to draw out new foundation and to help get their colony established.
