Happy Bees and New Comb

When I inspected the Purple and White hive last week, they were out of stores and agitated.

I gave them a gallon of 1:1 syrup and closed them back up.

Today when I inspected them again, they had taken all the syrup and were very calm and gentle. I worked them without smoke, and could have probably done it without gloves.

Another nice surprise was finding that they were using the syrup to draw new wax.

This is the hive that the queen laid two frames of brood in the super, I'm pretty sure to spite me.

When I extracted the rest of the frames in the super, I back-filled with foundation. I'm excited that they're drawing the frames out. If they finish drawing the frames, they'll have an extra drawn super for next year!
